Last week, the German Federal Government adopted its first comprehensive China Strategy. “China has changed, and so we need to change our approach to China”, said Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. "The strategy encompasses the goals of reducing dependency and mitigating risks through the promotion of diverse trade and supply chains, ultimately enhancing resilience. Additionally, maintaining a focus on security collaboration with key partners such as the US is of utmost importance.
Meanwhile, world leaders gathered for a two-day NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania from July 11 to 12. During the Summit, leaders of the G7 countries and the EU revealed a comprehensive framework aimed at protecting Ukraine against potential future acts of aggression from Russia. At the opening of the Summit, Germany's Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz pledged a new package of weapons.
And in other news, soccer fans at the German Embassy are eagerly awaiting the start of the 2023 Women's World Cup. Germany has its first match against Morocco on July 24. Will you be watching?
