Dear TWIG Readers,
US News & World Report has come out with its annual "Best Countries" ratings! And we're happy to announce that Germany is ranked #3 in the overall "Best Countries" ranking, following Canada (#1) and Japan (#2). Last year, Germany ranked fourth. Germany also ranks #2 in the world for entrepreneurship and #3 for education and transparency, making it a great country to build your skills or work on a business!
"Germany, the most populous nation in the European Union, possesses one of the largest economies in the world and has seen its role in the international community grow steadily since reunification," the report states.
The ranking is based on a digital survey involving more than 17,000 participants from 36 different countries. Participants were asked to rank 78 different countries according to qualities such as "heritage", "power", "quality of life", "agility" and "social purpose".
Another category that Germany scored particularly high in is "agility" (#4), which describes a country's ability to "adapt and respond to whatever obstacles they face," US News states.
Germany also ranked high for "responsiveness" and was seen as being progressive and modern.
However, one of Germany's lowest scores is in the category "adventure". We're not quite sure we understand this one, since there are so many adventures to be had in Germany! From hiking in the Alps to dancing at Oktoberfest and swimming commando in the North Sea, there's plenty of fun to be had. But alas, we're still happy that Germany is listed so high up in its overall rankings!
