A weekend of virtual events

Dear TWIG Readers,

We have an eventful weekend coming up in the virtual world!

Sunday is Europe Day, and in honor of this occasion, we have partnered with the other embassies of the European Union to bring you a virtual experience that will take you on a cultural trip through Europe! Titled "Outside with EU", our month-long celebration kick-starts Saturday at 5 pm EST with Europe House Live, a virtual concert featuring over 20 performances by European musicians (including German-Swiss musician Roger Stein). More information can be found here

Meanwhile, those of you in the Washington, DC area are invited to participate in the "Outside with EU" scavenger hunt, which invites you to explore 25 European landmarks. Those of you who participate will be sent to explore the German-American Friendship Garden on the National Mall. More information about the scavenger hunt, which launches May 9, will be posted on the Outside with EU website. We hope you participate!

On a more somber note, Sunday also marks another important date: the 100th birthday of Sophie Scholl, a member of the "White Rose" resistance group. Scholl was a courageous young woman who was killed at the age of 21 after standing up to the Nazi regime. On Sunday, we are releasing a video that will honor her life, as well as the lives of other members of the White Rose. Be sure to follow us on Facebook to get notified when that video goes live.
